Eleven days following the swearing-in of 28 new ministers in the Madhya Pradesh cabinet of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, they have finally been granted their portfolios. It didn’t come as a surprise that MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia grabbed a good set of portfolios. Of the 28 who joined the cabinet of Chouhan today, 20 are of the cabinet rank, while eight have become Ministers of State. The strength of the ministry now stands at 34, with four among them being women.

Among the new inductees is Tulsi Ram Silawat gets to keep the water resources department. Silawat happens to be from the Scindia camp. The departments of revenue, transport, health, women and child development, industries, water resources, food and civil supplies, and public health engineering have also been handed to those aligned to the former Congress leader. However, the more important departments like Home, Finance, Urban Administration, Public Works Department, Forest, and Agriculture have been reserved for BJP MLAs.
