In a highly controversial statement, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that Lord Rama is not of Indian descent and is in fact, a Nepali. He further blamed India for cultural encroachment by creating a fake Ayodhya, stating that the real Ayodhya is in the Birgunj district of Nepal.

The Nepal PM made this strange claim during the birth anniversary celebrations of Bhanubhakt Acharya. He questioned the visiting of Lord Rama to Janakpur at a time when there were no means of communication. According to him, Princess Sita was given away in marriage to Lord Rama from Ayodhya in Nepal.

Previously, the Nepal Government had stopped broadcasting Indian channels, blaming India for showing disrespectful news about Nepal. Also, when the Nepal PM was asked to resign by his own party members, he blamed India for creating differences.
