Lockdown Announced In Bihar Until July 31 Amid Growing COVID-19 Cases
A 15-day lockdown was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today.
Bihar today joined a list of states that are opting to impose lockdowns once again with an aim to curb the transmission of COVID-19 in their population. While some states have only shut down certain cities or areas, Bihar has announced a complete statewide lockdown that will come into effect on July 16, 2020, and run through July 31. The move has been made after observing an “alarming surge” in the number of coronavirus positive cases in the last three weeks, said Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi.
Essential services and home deliveries will function normally during the lockdown. Moreover, air and rail transport will also continue as they were functioning during Unlock 2.0. Religious places will be shut down again, while complexes reserved for sports and recreation will also be needed to down their shutters. Dine-in services will not be offered by restaurants, while state and central government offices will be closed down unless the work deals with essential services.
