Kanpur Ambush: UP Police Finds Audio Clips Exposing Vikas Dubey’s Plans
Conversations between Dubey’s aides reveal how the police killings were planned.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Department have found three audio files that contain conversations between Vikas Dubey’s aides on the fateful night of July 3 when eight policemen were ambushed by the gangster’s men. In one of the audio files, the wife of Shashikant Pandey, one of Dubey’s aides who was arrested today, can be heard talking to Dubey’s sister-in-law immediately after the ambush. “Two men died at my door, while another man died in my courtyard,” she is heard saying.
Following the horrific incident, a massive manhunt was launched for Vikas Dubey. Several officers in the Kanpur police department were suspended for suspicions of having aided Dubey’s escape. He was finally nabbed at Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple on July 9. While being brought back into Kanpur the next day, the car he was in suffered an accident. When Vikas tried to escape, he was killed by police firing. Questions are also being raised on whether this was a staged encounter or not.
