Kamala Harris, Mike Pence Gear Up For October 7 Vice Presidential Debate
The much-awaited Harris versus Pence debate will take place in Salt Lake City in Utah
Vice Presidential candidates, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Mike Pence will come face to face on 7 October for their first debate, leading up to the November 2020 elections.
With American President Donald Trump testing positive for COVID19 recently, there is much anticipation around what will ensue in the Harris-Pence face-off. According to the country’s political experts, what makes the upcoming event more exciting is the Democrat candidate’s gender and ethnic origin. While Harris is known to be extremely fierce on the stage and not the one to throw simple arguments at her opponent, Pence has a reputation of not falling into a trap easily.
The first and only woman of colour to contest in such a major position is expected to attack the Republican representative over concerns of Coronavirus mismanagement, especially since Trump himself is positive now.
Geraldine Ferraro was the first lady vice-presidential candidate to take to the dais against Republican George HW Bush in 1984. Reports reveal that the 2008 debate for the second most important office in America, between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin garnered more views than the presidential series.
It will be interesting to see how Mike Pence and Kamala Harris take on each other on this Wednesday at Salt Lake City in Utah.
