Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and the state’s Congress president, Kamal Nath shot out at the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government while addressing a gathering on 27 December. Accusing Chouhan of turning everything into an event, he called the CM an expert in media politics. Talking about the ongoing farmer protests, Nath said that the saffron party is unfazed by the dissent of the agricultural community. The senior Congress leader also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to the latter’s recent visit the Rakabganj Gurudwara in Delhi, indicating that this was another attempt to placate the Sikh community.
The veteran politician also took a dig a the central government for bringing up tensions with China and Pakistan only when the elections are around the corner. Nath appealed to the country’s youth to take charge and bring to power a more capable leadership for a brighter future for India.
Kamal Nath was hoping to return to his chief ministerial seat by securing a good majority during the November 2020 by elections. However, the party’s performance was abysmal with it winning only nine of the total 28 assembly seats, while 19 were taken away by the BJP. Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia, who shifted his loyalty from the Gandhis to Modi this year, termed both Nath and Digvijay Singh as incapable of leading the state.
