J&K: Two Soldiers Injured As Encounter Broke Out In Pulwama
Hidden terrorists fired at the security forces, triggering the encounter.
A gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday (September 15). Two soldiers of the Indian Army have been injured in the encounter, police said. Jammu and Kashmir Police official said that a joint team of the police, Indian Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search operation on receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists at Marwal village in Kakapora. As the joint team approached the spot, the hiding terrorists fired at them, to which they retaliated, triggering an encounter, he said.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists. As per sources, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. “An encounter broke out at Marwal area of Pulwama on Tuesday. The police and security forces are on the job. Further details are awaited,” tweeted Kashmir Zone Police. Earlier, an encounter broke between security forces and terrorists after the forces launched a joint search operation in Parigam area of Pulwama on Friday (September 11).
