J&K Security Forces Arrest Hizbul Terrorist In Anantnag
Zaheer Abbas Lone was arrested in an injured condition from the Gund Baba Khaleel area in Anantnag after a crossfire initiated by him with the security forces
The Jammu and Kashmir police and security team captured one terrorist from the Anantnag district today morning. The arrested was identified as Zaheer Abbas Lone, who is reportedly aligned to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit. After the authorities received information about the militant, a cordon and search operation was carried out in the Gund Baba Khaleel area. Sources revealed that Lone opened fire, which led to a crossfire with the police that finally left him injured.
In a tweet, the union territory’s police confirmed that the perpetrator, reportedly a resident of Pulwama was arrested in an injured condition and was shifted to a nearby hospital.
Prior to this on 8 December, three unidentified militants were neutralized by the army in Tikken in Pulwama. Like the Anantnag operation, the area was cordoned off after intelligence agencies received information of intruders in the area. In the crossfire that ensued with the militants opening fire at the defence personnel first, a civilian was also injured and rushed to hospital.
J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh recently revealed that numerous active terror camps are situated on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC), with the neighbouring country’s army and intelligence fully assisting terrorists to cross into India.
