Filing an intervention application, Javed Akhtar claimed that Kangana Ranaut failed to “disclose” the case with an intention to get favourable order in the passport renewal case. Read on for more details.

Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut has several criminal cases under her name. And this ultimately is restricting Kangana’s application for renewal of her passport. After which, the actor had approached the Bombay High Court and the proceedings are still taking place. Amid this, writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar has now alleged that Kangana’s counsel had given a misleading statement relating to her passport hearing. Also, Akhtar has moved to court, filing an intervention application against Kangana. Reportedly, the actor’s counsel issued statements to obtain favourable orders in the case.

In his appeal, Javed Akhtar cited the defamation case he had filed against Kangana in November 2020. For those unaware, the complaint was filed after Kangana made defamatory remarks against Akhtar in a TV interview. He also added that the criminal proceedings, in this case, are still pending against the actor. Akhtar’s application claimed that Kangana failed to “disclose” the case (filed by Akhtar) with an intention to get a “favourable order” in the passport renewal case.

Since last month, Kangana has been trying to get her passport renewed. The actor wants to head to Budapest, Hungary to resume shoot for her film ‘Dhaakad’. However, the authority has been delaying the same due to the pending criminal cases against the actor. Earlier on June 28, a bench of the High Court dismissed Kangana’s plea, calling it “vague”. Also, they added that the actor’s criminal cases were not clarified in the application.

Talking about the same, Kangana’s lawyer had said that only two FIRs have been registered against the actor. According to which, the first case was filed in October 2020 for spreading “religious hatred” through her tweets. The second FIR was filed by the author of the book Didda: Warrior Queen of Kashmir wherein, he alleged that Kangana had announced a film based on his book without any official permission.

And now, with Akhtar’s intervention, there might be new roadblocks for Kangana Ranaut.
