Jammu and Kashmir: Two Terrorists Killed In Shopian Encounter

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (October 6), police said. Security forces launched a search operation in Sugan village in Zainapora area of Shopian district following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists, a police spokesperson said. Kashmir Police initially tweeted, “Two unidentified terrorists were killed. The operation is going on.” Later, they said that one more unidentified terrorist was killed, taking the count to three. “Search going on. Further details shall follow,” they said.
The operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire and security forces retaliated, he added. Further details are awaited. The encounter started on Tuesday evening. According to the police, the terrorists – once they were holed up – were asked to surrender; however, they refused. In a similar incident, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces here in the Samboora area of Awantipora district on September 27.
