IT Department Questions Businessman Robert Vadra
The husband of Priyanka Gandhi faced the IT officials at his Sukhdev Vihar office yesterday for an eight hours interrogation under the Benami Properties Act
Trouble is intensifying for businessman and Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra as he faced the Income Tax Department on Monday. The IT officials recorded his statement under the Benami Transactions (Prohibitions) Act. The central department had earlier given summons to Vadra, who asked for more time to appear before them on account of the ongoing pandemic. He was questioned for over 8 hours at his Sukhdev Vihar office in Delhi, where the officers themselves went to engage with him.
Speaking to the media, the Gandhi family’s son-in-law said that he is a victim of political vendetta. He accused the central government of finding ways to divert attention of the public from important issues like the ongoing farmer protests. Vadra is also in the Enforcement Directorate’s net for money laundering cases. Speaking about the same, the businessman said that he has faced all agencies and answered all the questions asked till now and would continue to do so in the future.
