IPL Match Timings May Change Due To Soaring Heat In The UAE
While the BCCI is yet to release the final schedule, many matches may be scheduled in the evening due to extreme heat in UAE
The countdown to the Indian Premiere League (IPL) has begun, though the final schedule is yet to be released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to sources, the time of the matches may change due to the extreme heat in the desert country.
The matches have been planned across Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. In order to combat the high temperatures, the number of day matches may be reduced and shifted to evening matches scheduled for 7.30 pm onwards, especially in Abu Dhabi.
In September, Abu Dhabi, that is already battling a surge in the number of COVID19 infections, can even witness temperatures as severe as 49 degrees Celsius. Dubai temperatures can also rise to 49 degrees Celsius and Sharjah will probably see 40 degrees, making it an extremely difficult situation for the cricketers to be on field.
The teams have already reached the UAE and are currently quarantined in their hotels, as a part of the coronavirus protocol. Members of the Rajasthan and Punjab teams have all tested negative and started their net practices.
