The IPL 2021 auctions are currently taking place and a lot of players have already been chosen by the varied IPL teams. On February 19, the hero of the Indian test series in Australia, Cheteshwar Pujara decided to make a comeback to IPL. Read further to know which team bought Pujara and at what price.

Cheteshwar Pujara returns to IPL for the first time in 6 years

Cheteshwar Pujara is one of the most respectable players in the Indian cricket team. He has not played for IPL after representing Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2014, Pujara played his last match and has played in over 30 IPL matches. He had managed to score 390 runs at a strike rate of close to 100. Pujara will now join former India teammates MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina in the CSK team. The team has been very picky in choosing the teammates in the Thursday auction.

Pujara was the third player they bought at just the base price of Rs 50,000 lakhs after they bought Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham at Rs 7 crore and Rs 9.25 crore respectively. All the owners at the IPL auctions and other members stood up to give him applause for his performance in the latest test match. However, even though Pujara has made it big with his performance at the test matches, the senior batsman hasn’t yet made it big in the shorter formats of the game. Experts have assumed that the cricketer will not be getting many matches to play. However, he will be mentoring the junior players and motivating them throughout the tournament.
