Three reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to Chennai Super Kings

Reason 1: Harshal Patel bowled an expensive spell

Royal Challengers Bangalore player Harshal Patel is a purple cap holder. During his four overs of bowling, he gave away over 51 runs. This in turn proved to be heavy for the team as they couldn’t chase the target score. However, he also took two huge wickets of Raina and Faf Du Plessis. This also bought RCB back in the game but it could not cover the losses of the runs that were given away.

Reason 2: Ravindra Jadeja’s half-century put Royal Challengers Bangalore on a back foot

Ravindra Jadeja walked into the field after the 14th over along with Ambati Rayudu. While Harshal Patel was bowling he managed to hit four sixes in a run and got his half-century in just 25 balls. Because of Jadeja’s good game, the team scored 191 runs with just four wickets. RCB on the other hand could not make it up to the target.

Reason 3: No RCB batsman could score a significant amount of runs

No Batsman from RCB could bag a significant amount of runs in the second innings. Their target score was 192 which was already a tough one to achieve. The players couldn’t give their best during the second innings. Amongst all the batsmen, Devdutt Padikkal who opened the innings with Virat Kolhi scored 34 runs. It was the highest score any Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman had bagged during the match. Glen Maxwell made only 22 runs disappointing his fans.  Because of their inconsistency in scoring, RCB fell short of over 69 runs. After 19 overs, the team managed to score 111 runs with 9 wickets. After winning against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings made it to the top of the points table.
