IPL 2021: 3 Reasons Why Kolkata Knight Riders Lost Against Royal Challengers Bangalore
Here are three major reasons that saw Kolkata Knight Riders lose to an in-form Royal Challenger’s Bangalore.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are currently unbeaten after the first three games and they are having the perfect start to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. RCB’s third win came against former champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Although RCB started poorly, the team quickly rose to the moment and put KKR in tough spots throughout the rest of the game. Although the match was competitive to an extent, some pointers stood out to explain why Kolkata lost the game.
Watch the full story here:
Reason #1: Kolkata bowlers failed to contain Glen Maxwell
KKR started off the match at the right place as they managed to get RCB to a tight spot at 9 for 2 after two overs. Having dismissed skipper Virat Kohli back and opener Rajat Patidar early, all seemed well for KKR. However, the bowlers simply fell short once Glenn Maxwell took the pitch. Maxwell’s 78 off just 49 balls was nothing short of a fiery match-winning inning.
Reason #2: KKR bowlers were equally hapless against AB De Villiers
Glenn Maxwell, who earned the orange cap with his power hitting, was joined by Mr Cricket himself. AB De Villiers joined the party and marked it with his explosive batting. AB De Villiers scored an unbeaten 76 off just 34 balls having hit a remarkable number of boundaries. The powerful innings helped RCB finish off the innings with a mammoth total of 204.
Reason #3: No KKR batsmen played a big knock
Having won no trophy since 2014, KKR started off the season with high hopes. However, things don’t seem in the team’s favour. From unfortunate balling decisions to misfiring foreign picks, all things have been bad for the team in total. KKR’s marquee batsmen have been underperforming for a while now and skipper Morgan and Vice-Captain Dinesh Karthik’s sour form hasn’t been of much help too.
