Rajasthan Royals (RR) started off the IPL 2021 with a loss to Punjab Kings. However, they managed to turn things around quickly and registered their first win of the IPL 2021 season successfully completing a nail-biting run chase. RR won the game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final over of the match and many were left surprised by the feat. Playing at the Wankhede Stadium, RR really brought out their form and clinched the victory. Playing under their newest skipper Rishabh Pant, DC’s loss came down to three major factors.

Watch the full story here:

Reason #1: Delhi Capitals failed to put up a big total

DC had quite the batting collapse towards the end, having struggled to register a good total. Captain Rishabh Pant was the only one who marked a good score with a half-century. He scored 51 off 32 balls with a bunch of boundaries, finally falling for a run-out. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, who came on with the great form they got while playing against CSK, were sent back early.

Reason #2: Delhi Capitals batsmen struggled against Jaydev Unadkat

One of the biggest factors in DC’s loss was RR’s left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat. His brilliant spell took the DC batsmen by surprise. Unadkat is a player known for his variations and even a seasoned player like Ajinkya Rahane was caught off-guard with the new ball swinging. While the DC were restricted to a total of 147-8, Unadkat marked his name with 3-15.

Reason #3: David Miller and Chris Morris’ innings

DC got the best of starts to the second innings as they managed to choke the RR openers. They had the latter worrying with the scoreline being 42-5 at one point. At that point, the experienced David Miller stepped up to score a remarkable 62 off 43 balls helping his team get back in the chase. However, it was his South African teammate Chris Morris, who sealed the match. Morris’ 36 off 18 balls saw him become an instant fan favourite. The win also let him escape criticism he had received for underperforming at the CSK game after having bought for at a hefty price of 16.25 crore.
