This IPL 2020, who holds the advantage in MI vs DC match? Mumbai beat Delhi in both their league phase outings. So what lies ahead for Delhi? The Delhi capitals should buckle up for the worst. Even in its older avatar, DC had to deal with the worst possible scenarios when playing in the play-offs or knock-outs.  The team managed to make it to the semi-finals. However, their winning dream was shattered by Shane Watson in 2008 and by Adam Gilchrist in 2009. Delhi managed to top the pile in 2012 too. But they missed the chance by losing both the qualifiers. In the previous season, Delhi entered the playoffs with a new look after a gap of seven years. However, they ended with a loss against CSK.

Delhi Capitals continued to build on the success of last season. They showed great form in the beginning. DC also reached the top of the points table at the half-way mark. However, only after a victory over RCB did they manage to ensure a second-place finish in the league stage. But this time, Delhi is up against the defending champion of IPL. Mumbai Indians beat them in both their league phase outings. DC’s Dhawan showed signs of a return to form against RCB. Rahane also played an important knock. But what does DC need?

DC needs big innings from both batsmen, Prithvi Shaw or Rishabh Pant. They both can take the game away from the opposition. Mumbai’s captains Rohit and Pollard had the luxury to bring Bumrah into the attack in the middle overs. This disrupted the plans of several teams. However, if DC takes Boult out of the equation, Bumrah will be introduced in the powerplay. This means that the middle overs will be bowled by Krunal, Chahar or Pattinson. However, Pant or Stoinis can make an impact here, before Bumrah returns for the death overs. Delhi’s plan should be to choose which bowler to go after and then strategize accordingly. Meanwhile, MI would hope for Bumrah and Boult to do their usual. This will break DC’s top order.
