Mumbai Indians (MI) unfortunately faced defeat in the IPL match that was played on Tuesday, November 3. While being pitted against Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), the team put up a target of 150 runs on the scoreboard. During the second inning of the match, MI bowlers drastically failed at taking wickets which resulted in SRH winning the game. Post the game, when captain Rohit Sharma was asked about their performance, he said that it was their ‘worst performance of the season’.

Skipper Rohit expressed that they weren’t expecting a result like that at all. Elaborating further, he added that the team tried different combinations to give everyone a chance. However, it did not work out well for them.

“No, certainly not, we were not expecting a result like that and it was probably our worst performance of the season and we want to leave this performance right here. But we also wanted to try out a few things, knowing that we’re qualified and in top 2. We wanted to try out a few things, try a different combination, different batting order. It clearly didn’t work out or us but it’s good learning for us also. Sometimes, you need to know your bench strength also because we still have some more games to play. But we didn’t want a result like that,” said Rohit.

MI failed to even take a single wicket during the match. Talking about the same, he added that Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have been their leading wicket-takers. However, even they needed rest and the team ensured that they got it.

“Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult are our wicket-taking bowlers, they have come out really good for us, certainly we missed them today but it was also important for us to manage their workload as they have been playing consistently. The travelling from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah doesn’t make it easier. So we wanted to make sure that they rest and get ready for the playoffs”, he added.
