Things did not go as planned in the last two matches for Kings XI Punjab against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. In the interview after the match ended, KL Rahul, the captain of Kings XI Punjab spoke about the mistakes they did which destroyed their chances to enter the playoffs. KL Rahul on mistakes made by KXIP that crushed their playoff hopes
In the match that took place yesterday against CSK, XXIP couldn’t give their best. Chennai Super Kings won the match by nine wickets with seven balls to spare. KL Rahul spoke about their performance in the interview. The interviewer mentioned that the team started off well while batting but lacked momentum eventually. He asked if the batting order in the match that went wrong affected it.
To this, Rahul clarified that it wasn’t the batting order that went wrong. He added that as batsmen they knew this match was important and they had to score big. He admitted that Kings XI Punjab could not soak up the pressure that was needed at such a match. He added that they could have stitched good partnership that if often needed to score 180+ but failed to do so.
He said that for a team to survive, one of the top 4 batsmen have to score at least 70-80 runs so they can cross 180+ runs. The team couldn’t hold their wickets for too long. Their whole plan was to make a big score however they could only manage to make 153 runs which were easy enough for CSK to score. It was Deepak Hooda who managed to score 62 runs off 39 balls and helped Punjab score 153 in their 20 overs in the IPL 2020 latest match.
Ruturaj Gaikwad shined in the game as he scored his third consecutive fifty. Gaikwad and du Plessis stitched an 82-run stand as the opened in the second inning. Openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal started a good match but as lost their wickets. Soon after the King XI Punjab team 2020 kept losing wickets of Neesham, Thakur, Imran Tahir and Jadeja. KL Rahul’s latest match got them kicked out of IPL.
