Check out all the matches in the IPL history that witnessed a super over.
Indian Premier League 2021 would be kickstarting from April 9. Over the years, there have been several iconic matches that have secured a place in the list of most iconic IPL matches. One such kind of matches is the matches that did not end even after 40 overs. These are called the super-over matches where a special over is conducted and both the teams play six balls each. The team with more runs wins the match. A total of 13 super-overs have been played in the history of IPL till now.
IPL matches that witnessed super overs –
1)Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight riders in 2009 – Yusuf Pathan smashed KKR’s powerful spinner Ajantha Mendis by playing 2 magnificent sixes to win as Rajasthan chased 16 runs in the super over.
2)Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai super kings in 2010: Rusty Theron’s brilliant bowling in the super over restricted Chennai Super Kings to register a win as they scored 9 runs which KXIP chased down easily.
3)Sunrisers Hyderabad vs RCB in 2013: Needing 16 to win in the super over, Cameron White took Vinay Kumar to cleaners to take SRH over the line.
4)Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils in 2013:- Ravi Rampaul held his nerves in the super over in a nail-biting contest as RCB defended 15 runs to win the match.
5)Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014:- This was one of the most epic super overs. Both teams scored 11 runs each in the super over leading to a tie. However, Rajasthan Royals registered a win by scoring more boundaries in the super over.
6)Kings X1 Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals in 2015:- Mitchell Johnson’s sensational super over bowling performance helped KXIP defend 15 runs and win the match.
7)Mumbai Indians vs Gujrat Lions in 2017:- The now difunctional and then newly inducted Gujrat lions team failed to score 12 runs, all thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s heroic and superb bowling in the super over.
8)Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019:- Kagiso Rabada nailed yorkers with perfection as Kolkata Knight Riders couldn’t score 11 runs against him in super over.

9)Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019:- Jasprit Bumrah helped in registering a win as he conceded just 8 runs and Mumbai Indians chased down the target easily in 3 balls.
10)Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab in 2020:- Kagiso Rabada once again came up with a superb performance in the super over as Punjab lost both their wickets with just 2 runs on board and Delhi won the match.
11)Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians in 2020:- Young Navdeep Saini’s stunning overs and Virat Kohli’s composure helped RCB over the line against the mighty Mumbai Indians.
12)Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020:- Lockie Ferguson’s superb super over bowling where he allowed just 2 runs and KKR easily chased it down.
13)Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians:- This historical game witnessed 2 super overs but KXIP eventually went on to win with Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal shining in the second tie-breaking over.
