After a nail-biting ODI series, the Indian and Sri Lankan sides were geared up for the T20i mode. With the men in blue winning the first game, all eyes were on Sri Lanka’s comeback in the second T20i. However, the game was postponed a day after India’s all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for the Covid-19. During the game day, Rapid Antigen tests were conducted wherein Pandya’s results were detected positive.
As per the statement issued by BCCI, Krunal Pandya was tested Covid-19 positive on the match day. Also, the medical team has identified eight other teammates as ‘close contacts’. Following this, the entire Indian squad underwent RT-PCR tests. And a recent report confirms that the eight teammates were tested negative for Covid-19. However, as a precautionary measure, they will not take the field for the game or in the practice sessions.
Well, that means there will be plenty of changes in the Indian playing eleven for the next games. Reportedly, the remaining two T20i matches will be played on Wednesday and Thursday consecutively. It remains to be seen what major changes the teams undergo.
As of now, India is leading the T20i series with a great 38-run win in the opening game. Following the new changes, the Shikhar Dhawan-led team will be aiming at another triumphant series win. On the other hand, the host team Sri Lanka will be eager to make a comeback in the game.
Talking more about the new developments in the team, it might also affect India’s upcoming Test series schedule in England. For those unaware, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were due to join the Indian side for the England tour. Though they have been tested negative, both the players are kept under quarantine.
