India and China are all set to hold their sixth round of military level talks in Moldo today on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). In a first, a diplomat represented by Joint Secretary east Asia, Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Naveen Srivastava will join the Corps Commander talks on the border standoff between the two nations.
Prior to this, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow earlier this month , where both agreed on easing tensions through dialogue and disengagement at the border.
Ever since the Galwan episode in Ladakh in June, where Indian soldiers and Chinese People’s Liberation Army engaged in a physical fight, tensions have mounted between the two nations. India has increased its defence capabilities by deploying powerful weapons and machines at the border and stocking materials for its troops at high and forward altitudes. China has also refused to disengage from the disputed regions and made several establishments along the border to keep a watch on the Indian side.
