India-China Border Row: US Defence Secretary To Call Rajnath Singh To Discuss Situation
This will be the second such conference from the US between the two leaders since the India-China border standoff in Ladakh intensified.

US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper is all set to communicate with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today over a phone call in order to discuss the China situation, among other things. This will be the second communiqué between the two nations since the India-China face-off at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Also, on the agenda, could be discussion about the Indo-China defence ties. The two countries had been conducting military exercises, which had stopped due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Another topic of discussion could be the 2+2 talks planned for the end of this year, that will involve the Defence Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
This dialogue between the two defence representatives has gained a lot of importance because of what transpired at the Galwan Valley on June 15. Troops from the armies of India and China had clashed at the location on the said date for six hours, resulting in 20 Indian soldiers losing their lives. On Monday (June 29), the Indian government announced a ban on 59 Chinese apps, citing that they pose a threat to the “sovereignty and security,” of the nation.
