According to a report, due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, the third test at Sydney had been under the scanner lately. However, reports also suggested that it would be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. A statement by the CEO of Cricket Australia, Nick Hockley stated that they have strong contingency plans in place in case of an emergency. The statement read, “Should the public health situation in NSW render playing in Sydney untenable, CA’s preferred contingency plan is to work with the Victorian Government to play the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the fourth Test at the Gabba”.

On Tuesday, the CA decided to retain Sydney as the venue for the third Test against India. This put an end to all the speculations hovering around if the game would be shifted to Melbourne. Due to stringent COVID-19 border restrictions, it would be difficult for players to move from one place to another. Talking about India’s comeback, they beat Australia by eight wickets in the second test. This was a great achievement for the team. The Indian captain Virat Kohli also took to Twitter to celebrate and congratulate everyone. He tweeted, “What a win this is, absolutely amazing effort by the whole team. Couldn’t be happier for the boys and specially Jinks who led the team to victory amazingly. Onwards and upwards from here”.
