ICC Scraps T20 World Cup 2020 Due To COVID-19 Pandemic
ICC will take final call on the upcoming World Cups based on the pandemic situation.
TheInternational Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed the T20 World Cup 2020 due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. ICC Chief Executive Officer Manu Sawhney said that the decision was taken after after thorough planning and discussions. This has paved way for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 which was halted because of ICC’s pending call on the T20 World Cup. The Council has also made some major announcements that are a sheer treat for cricket fans. In 2021 and 2022, two T20 World Cups will take place, while in 2023, the ODI (One-Day International) World Cup will be held.
However, ICC has not yet declared the venue. It is rumoured that the upcoming two T20 World Cups will take place in India. Sources also report that the ODI World Cup 2023 may also be played here. ICC will take the final call once the pandemic situation turns normal. The World Cup matches will be played during the months of October-November.
