The ICC has finally made it clear that it will be postponing the T20 World Cup that was supposed to take place in Australia this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Cricket’s governing body now plans on holding the competition between October and November next year. What this also means is that all roads are now open for the IPL to take place in Dubai, as many sources have been hinting that the said city is ready to host the league this year.

The International Cricket Council, after a meeting yesterday, revealed that the postponement of the T20 World Cup means that there will be three back to back world events happening in the upcoming years. While 2021 will see the postponed T20 World Cup take place in Australia, the year 2022 will see another T20 World Cup happening in Australia or India, since the competition usually happens every two years. And 2023 will, of course, be the year of the 50-over ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
