If there’s one movie that’ll get you in the Republic Day spirit early on, it’s got to be this one. We’re super excited to catch the world television premiere of the much-awaited latest Bengali movie Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan on January 3. Begin the new year with a bang. After all, the movie stars Tollywood’s multi-talented hero Jeet (who can forget his hilarious rom-com Inspector Notty K and the drama in Abhimaan?). There’s a reasons why we are looking forward to the movie. Catch the trailer here in the meantime.

For starters, Jeet’s back in an action role after quite a long time. We’re sure his fans would agree when we say that watching Jeet save the day takes you on a real rollercoaster ride. His performance in action films are intense, and from the looks of Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan’s trailer, it looks like he’s bringing even more fire to the screen!

It’s Jeet’s first patriotic film too. Featuring an incident that’s still fresh in the nation’s memory — the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack — the story follows Jeet as an undercover RAW agent trying to stop a terrorist outfit from doing the same in Kolkata and Delhi. The scenes they’ve recreated in the trailer alone are both haunting and full of suspense.

There’s even more emotional significance to the film. It marks the directorial debut of Anshuman Pratyush, who in fact, wrote the screenplay for Inspector Notty K and several other films for Jeet’s production house. Anshuman considers this film a tribute to the sacrifices that many make for the safety of the country. His father is an IPS officer, and Anshuman grew up witnessing what it meant to be in such a demanding profession.

Panther: Hindustan Meri Jaan also features south hottie Shraddha Das, who plays Jeet’s female lead. She’s known for her performance in The Royal Bengal Tiger, and it’ll be interesting to see her in a different role in this film. She’s put up a sizzling performance already in the song Marhaba — and that’s something else that we’re looking forward to. The music of the film Vande Mataram and Udashi Shon can really tug at your heartstrings.
