Here Is What Makes PM Modi’s New Aircraft So Special
The American-made Air India One comes with a integrated missile defence system that can detect enemy attacks and will be used by the top three VVIPs of India
As India’s first ever VVIP Aircraft, the Air India One Boeing 777-300 landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi yesterday, here’s a look at what makes the jet so special and different from the previous 747 model.
Capable of flying at 900 kilometers per hour, the US-made Boeing 777-300 has features similar to the powerful Airforce One jet used by the American President. Equipped with a high-tech missile defence system, the Air India One’s features include a jammer, that can block the enemy’s radar signal. It also comes with a Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) and Self-Protection Suites (SPS), that increases the crew warning time and minimises false alarms, automatically protecting any external attacks.
Other features include a mini medical centre, business class seats and a larger cabin.
The plane will be a part of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Communication Squadron.
The sleek plane has been designed as an in-air office complex and will be used exclusively by only Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.
