The recent Hathras rape case has created a rage among the citizens of India. It was a pure showcase of political inefficiency and negligence. According to the latest news reports, many retired IAS officers have pointed fingers at the DM (District Magistrate) and suspended SP (Superintendents of Police) of the district, Vikrant Vir, for failing in their duties and not abiding by the law. Many questions were also raised against Hathras district magistrate Praveen Kumar Laxkar. The IPS association and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi questioned why no action was taken against the district magistrate in the Hathras case and who is safeguarding the Hathras DM even after so much of negligence.

President of BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) Mayawati also criticised the government for its ill-functioning and increasing crime rate in the state.
