Gun Sales Are At An All-Time High In America
June 2020 alone saw 4 million guns sell. The increasing demand has been attributed to people feeling unsafe and wanting to protect themselves
Firearms sales are at an all-time high in the southern states of America, as gun shops are flooded with people waiting to buy themselves a weapon. According to a federal police report, 2.3 million guns were sold per month in 2019, while in 2020, more than 4 million sales were reported in the month of June alone.
The shocking rise in these figures is attributed by many to the leading unrest in the country. Pandemic, protests and politics are the primary reasons for people to procure weapons. The perception of increasing crime, widespread dissent over racism and the general lack of trust on the police has led to an unprecedented number of panic buyers.
With more than 5 million first-time purchasers of arms, experts believe that whenever there is unrest in the country, the sales tend to skyrocket. In Mississippi, men and women are flocking to shooting classes for their training. As the population looks at a way to safeguard themselves, guns seem to be their only solution.
Extremely flaky gun laws have been a matter of contention in America. Most adults can own one, unless they are a convicted criminal, a non-US citizen or someone with a mental health issue.
