Five Dead As Fire Breaks Out In A COVID-19 Hospital In Rajkot
The fire started in the ICU of the Shivanand COVID facility at around 1 am on Friday, leaving five dead and one injured
In a tragic incident, five people succumbed to a fire that broke out in a COVID19 hospital in Rajkot, Gujarat. The blaze started in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Shivanand Hospital in the early hours of Friday. Around 30 patients were rescued from the premises. While three patients died in the ICU itself, two others breathed their last soon after. One person is reportedly injured and under medical care.
For now the fire has been brought under control, though the cause of the accident is yet to be investigated. The rescued patients have been shifted to other designated Coronavirus hospitals.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani ordered a probe into the matter, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief to the bereaved families of the deceased and injured victims. He said that he was extremely pained by the unfortunate occurrence, also adding that the administration will ensure all possible help to those affected.
