Farooq Abdullah Invites Gupkar Declaration Signatories To Demand Restoration Of Article 370
Former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah met with PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to sign the Gupkar Declaration to demand for the restoration of Article 370 in the former state
Hours after detained former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti was released, National Congress (NC) Chief Farooq Abdullah called on her along with his son Omar Abdullah to discuss the Gupkar Declaration.
The three ex-chief ministers of the former state came together and took a clear stand against the Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) ruling in Kashmir. A meeting will be held on Thursday, presided by the senior Abdullah to fight for the restoration of article 370 in J&K and to sign the Gupkar agena version 2.0.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti tweeted thanking the NC Supremo for inviting her and making her a part of his endeavour.
The BJP has meanwhile called the Gupkar agenda an anti-India plan used by self-serving politicians like Mufti and the Abdullahs to facilitate Pakistani interests in Kashmir. The declaration was first signed in 2019 on August 4 just before Article 370 was revoked in the region. While the meeting between the NC and PDP heads was an informal one, Farooq Abdullah will meet all the other signatories a day later to officially demand for the special status of J&K.
The central government confirmed that there will be no question of restoring the revoked law in the union territory and that the politicians there should stop harbouring such hopes.
