Hundreds of farmers have been protesting since 26th of November on the outskirts of Delhi demanding the government to repeal the new act. The farmers are getting all the help from celebrities and supporters. These farmers are away from their families for a very long time now. Recently, a farmer celebrated the birthday of his daughter with his fellow farmers amidst the protest. Take a look at how he celebrated the birthday being away from his daughter.

Farmers celebrate the birthday of a girl 

Several farmers are staying away from their families to protest against the Central farm bills at Delhi-Haryana borders. A farmer celebrated the first birthday of his daughter by cutting the cake with fellow farmers at the protest at Tikri Border on Sunday, December 13. Several farmers came together to decorate the site with balloons and a poster that read Happy birthday Sidak, Sidak is the name of his daughter.

They gathered together and sang the birthday song for her while her father was cutting the cake. They had bought 3 huge cakes in order to distribute amongst all the farmers at the protest. Jagat Singh,  the father of the little girl said to ANI, “My daughter is celebrating back home with her mother and our relatives. When we left our homes, we had vowed not to return before our victory. I am fighting for my daughter’s generation and to secure their land rights.”

The farmers are extremely agitated at the Tikri border. Jagat Singh expressed his determination to achieve the end goal of repealing the new farmer’s law. He added that the farmers are so agitated that they would even celebrate Baisakhi and Diwali and wait here a year longer if the government does not listen to them. For now, the government has held 6 rounds with the farmers’ associations. A meeting is called by Union Home minister Amit Shah to offer changes to the law.

Recent updates on Delhi news say that the farmers went on a day-long hunger strike today to intensify the agitation against the government. The chief minister of Delhi also held a fast along with the farmers to support the protest. More and more farmers are now coming in to increase the strength of the protest.
