Recently, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other BJP leaders staged a ‘Sarkar Jagao‘ demonstration outside their party office. The ministers demanded a Rs 50,000 crore package from the state government for farmers and labourers. Fadnavis told the media that since Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in the pandemic, they have started the ‘Save Maharashtra’ campaign, which will solely focus on getting the state government to work on the betterment of poor farmers and labourers.

According to an ANI report, the former CM criticised the Uddhav Thackeray-led government and claimed that the operating government has failed on all fronts. Patients are not getting proper medical assistance on time. Many people are dying on roads, there is no food available in quarantine centres and no sufficient number of beds in hospitals. Further, the private hospitals are charging in lakhs which the poor cannot afford. The government did not undertake the necessary steps to acquire any private hospitals even after announcing their acquisition, Fadnavis said.

Reports state that Maharashtra still remains the worst-affected state with 41,642 active Coronavirus cases. Fadnavis demanded free treatment for COVID-19 patients and said patients with COVID-19 symptoms must be provided with appropriate medical assistance. He said that 80 per cent of the beds in the private hospitals should be arranged on a governmental rate and everything should be properly monitored.
