Entire Village In Bihar’s Supaul District Drowned Due To Floods
Villagers have been forced to set up camp on highways amidst the floods.
The flood situation in Bihar continues to worsen day by day, even as entire villages are getting consumed by floodwaters in some parts of the state. Situated on the banks of the Koshi river in the Supaul district is one such village in the town of Kunauli. On-ground reporting from the village shows entire roads and pathways being submerged under water. Offices of local authorities too have not been spared by the rising floodwaters.
Elsewhere in the state of Bihar, the Gandhak river has breached its embankment in Champaran, causing several villages along it to get inundated. Over 2000 people have so far been rescued by officials. It’s being said that heavy pressure and the high water current in the river has led to about a 25-feet stretch of the main embankment getting breached at Nihalu Tola in Sangrampur block. Locals have revealed that the seepage in the embankment was visible, having caved in around midnight on Thursday.
