Encounter In Baramulla: Army Officer, Policeman Injured; Two Militants Killed
Gunfight erupted during joint operation between army and police.
In Jammu And Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a gunfight broke out early morning today when a joint operation was launched by forces on the basis of input about militant presence at Yedipora Pattan. In the encounter, an army officer and a policeman were wounded, while two militants were killed. “The cordon was laid and contact with the militant was established. An Army Major was critically wounded in the initial exchange of fire,” said a source.
Special Police Officer (SPO) Naseer Ahmad was injured in the gunfight in Baramulla today. He has been taken to a Srinagar hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable. Only a few days back, three suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) over ground workers were arrested from the Pattan area by the joint force. They were identified as Abid Parvaiz of Andergam Pattan, Javaid Hassan Ittoo of Goushbugh Pattan and Jan Nissar Khaliq of Chanderhama Pattan.
