Eight Police Personnel Martyred, Six Injured By Criminals During Kanpur Raid
Among the deceased included one DSP, three sub-inspectors and four constables. Six more policemen received bullet shots and were rushed to a hospital.
At least eight police personnel, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devendra Mishra, were killed and six cops were injured after they were fired upon by criminals. This incident occurred when a police team had gone on a raid in search of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. The raid was carried out at around 1.00 a.m. on the intervening night of July 2-3 in Bithoor’s Dikru village in Chaubepur Police Station area in Kanpur. A civilian was also injured in the attack, said Additional Director-General (ADG) Law and Order Prashant Kumar, adding that a few police weapons were also missing after the incident.
Prashant Kumar stated, “Those responsible for the act will be caught and produced before the law.” The deceased included one DSP, three Sub-Inspectors and four constables. The other six policemen, who received bullet shots and were injured in the ambush, were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state. According to reports, Senior Superindent of Police (SSP) and Inspector General (IG) rushed to the spot immediately and forensics have been examining the area since then.
