Dog Squad Helps Sniff Out LeT Commander In Jammu And Kashmir Encounter
Three security personnel were killed by the militants before they were gunned down.
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday killed top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander, Sajjad Haider and two other militants in an encounter with the help of a dog squad. An attack was launched by the militants on security forces stationed in the Kreeri area of the Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a J&K Police Special Officer of the J&K Police were killed in the attack, following which the militants had escaped into an apple orchard. Thus ensued the gunfight in which the three militants were killed.
Apart from Sajjad Haider, a Pakistani militant named Usman and another local militant Inayatullah Mir were among those killed in the encounter. “We used our dog squad to trace the militants, especially the one who was injured. But as we approached the injured gunman, another militant, who had taken position in a tree, fired when the troops were walking under the tree,” said Dilbag Singh, Director General of J&K Police.
