Deve Gowda Asks The Government And The Opposition To Arrive At An Understanding Over Farm Bills

The newly passed farm bills have sparked some serious controversies across the nation. In several states, farmers gathered in huge numbers to protest against the bills. The monsoon session in the parliament commenced once again after it was adjourned due to chaotic drama by the opposition leaders. On Tuesday, September 22, Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda urged the government as well as the opposition party leaders to reach consensus so that the Rajya Sabha proceedings can continue and function smoothly hereon. He further said that democracy should work with cooperation.
The farm bills were passed with an intent to benefit the farmers across India. However, it took a political turn after a few political parties and farmers began to oppose them. Congress party have even stated that they will continue to protest until their demands are met.
