Traffic in various parts of Delhi was disrupted today due to continuous heavy rains that have lashed the city the past few days. Waterlogging was seen in a number of prominent areas within Delhi and Gurugram, which made matters worse for those who were travelling to work in the morning. Jhandewalan Mandir on Rani Jhansi Road, MB Road at Lal Kuan and Ma Anandmayee Marg near DD Motors were some of the worst affected areas due to waterlogging.

Delhi has already received nearly 80% of the season’s rainfall in the span of just 11 days, according to Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The Minister has expressed confidence that the government would soon be able to solve the monsoon woes of the people of the city. Wednesday’s incessant rains reduced the rain deficiency in the capital to 11% from 13% on Monday. The Safdarjung Observatory has recorded 147.4 mm rainfall against the normal of 165.2 mm in August so far.
