Delhi Police Officials Claim Riots Were Pre-Planned; Arrest Several ‘Masterminds’
Opposition party leaders allege that Home Minister Amit Shah is targeting anti-CAA protesters and is focusing on arresting them with proper planning.
Former student and member of Jawaharlal Nehru University and human rights activist Umar Khalid was arrested on Sunday, September 13, as an accused in the February Delhi Riots case. According to news reports, Delhi Police have named Yogendra Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, and other prominent names in its disclosure of charge sheet in the February Delhi riots case. Several other students have also been arrested under the charges of murder, creating violence, and damaging property. Delhi Police officials also allege that the riots were pre-planned and not a spontaneous incident.
However, opposition party leaders claim that Home Minister Amit Shah is clearly focusing on arresting the protestors who were against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). They further alleged that the way the probe in the Delhi riots case is being carried out is simply a one-sided investigation.
