Delhi Police Find WhatsApp Group Chats Where Riots Were Planned

Proper planning of the riots which included blocking of roads, destructing infrastructural properties and burning down vehicles took place on Whatsapp.

The Delhi Police have accessed Whatsapp chats of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) riots that took place in February 2020. The riots killed at least 53 people and injured around 400 people. According to the sources, the attacks were planned on a WhatsApp group named JCC-JMI. Proper planning and execution of the riots which included blocking of roads, destructing infrastructural properties and burning down vehicles were done on this Whatsapp group. Conversations between a person named Shahzar Khan and Jamia student Safoora Zargar reveal that the riots were pre-planned and the conspirators were planning something big and nasty to defame the nation.

The Whatsapp chats also revealed what hazardous material was to be used and how the conspirators would be initiating the riots in different parts of the national capital. The Delhi Police have already arrested several accused and will further investigate this case.
