Delhi Metro Gears Up For Restart With COVID-19 Preventive Measures
The Delhi Metro is all set to commence operations more than five months after it was shut down owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. September 7 has been chosen to be the date on which the services will restart amid strict preventive measures to control the spread of the coronavirus. Not all lines will be opened at once though, as they will be launched in a phased manner. Stage one will see the start of the Yellow and the Rapid Lines on September 7, while stage two will see the Blue and Pink Lines start on September 9. The Red, Green and Violet Lines will start on September 10.
Trains of the Delhi Metro will be available from 07:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 04:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m. every day. Commuters must note that only a limited number of gates will be open. At security points, all passengers will have to undergo thermal screening and those showing symptoms like fever or flu will be directed to the nearest medical centre for testing. Their contacts will moreover, be shared with the local administration. Masks will, of course, be mandatory, while sanitisers will be provided at major points by the administration.
