On Friday, the Delhi High Court dismissed actor Juhi Chawla’s case against the implementation of 5G technology in India. The court stated that the suit was filed for the sake of “publicity” and thus imposed a fine of Rs. 20 lakh on the actor and the two other appellants. Passing the judgement, Justice JR Midha said that Juhi Chawla and the two other petitioners have misused the “process of law”. Following this, they have been directed to deposit the fine with Delhi State Legal Services Authority within one week.

Reportedly, the hearing of the case which was held online got disrupted by unknown users. The court issued in its order saying, “It appears that the suit was filed for publicity. Plaintiff Juhi Chawla circulated link of the hearing on social media which created the disruption thrice. The Delhi Police shall identify the persons and take action against those who created the disruptions.”

The hearing was assembled virtually on a web platform. Amid this, many unknown users joined in, sang songs, disrupting the court proceedings. Due to this, the court ordered Delhi Police to trace down the users and serve them with legal notices.

Juhi Chawla had shared the link on her Instagram and Twitter handle. She had appealed to her fans to join in for the good cause. However, things turned a bit messy during the virtual hearing. And hence, it prompted the court to take strict actions against the same. Juhi and the two other appellants were charged with a Rs. 20 lakh fine for “wasting the time of judiciary”. The court stated that the funds will be utilised for the cause of road accident victims.

For those unaware, Juhi has been creating awareness about the harmful effects of Radio Frequency Radiation. Last month, she had filed a lawsuit against the introduction of 5G technology in India. The actor had claimed that 5G radiations pose danger to animals as well as human beings.
