Delhi Government Cuts VAT On Diesel, Price Slashed By Over Rs 8
The new change brings the price of diesel in Delhi down to Rs 73.64 from Rs 82.
The Delhi Government has made a big change in its tax collection strategy by reducing the VAT on diesel from 30% to 16.75%. This welcome move was made keeping in mind the troubles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and brings the price of diesel in the state, down by over Rs 8. People in Delhi will now pay just Rs 73.64 instead of Rs 82 for a litre of diesel. “This is one of the several measures taken by our government to revive Delhi’s economy,” said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while announcing the move.
The Delhi Government also plans on connecting with several industry groups and experts over video conferencing in order to “discuss more ways to revive Delhi’s economy.” Earlier in the week, the Arvind Kejriwal Government also launched a portal meant to connect job seekers with potential employers. Diesel prices had shot up considerably in the national capital following a number of price hikes in recent times.
