Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates 44 Bridges To Boost Border Connectivity
These bridges will benefit the Indian army in a very big way.
On Monday, October 12, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 44 bridges built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and also laid the foundation stone of a tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh. These infrastructural developments have been undertaken to boost border connectivity and help Indian armed forces to carry out their operations without any transportation glitches. According to latest news reports, the majority of these bridges enhance connectivity to areas leading up to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as a push to infrastructure amid the ongoing India-China border disputes.
The Defence Minister said that India shares close to 7,000 kilometres of border with China and Pakistan, and at any given point, some areas at the border are under tension. These bridges will benefit the Indian army in a very big way. Out of the 44 bridges, eights are in Ladakh, 10 in Jammu and Kashmir. Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh have eight bridges each, Himachal Pradesh has two bridges, and Sikkim has four.
