Dance Karnataka Dance Family War 2 Weekly Recap: The ‘Dance Battle Round’ Was A Super Hit

With a sweet smile on her face, the dazzling hostess of Dance Karnataka Dance Family War 2, Anushree, welcomed the audience and judges. Following this, she introduced the ‘Dance Battle Round‘ to everyone. Her unique introductions of the judges and onstage shenanigans left the audience and participants in splits.

The concept of last week’s episodes was that a set of two teams were given the same theme and they would have to dance on different songs. This was to be done while keeping the same theme. After the two performances, the judges would then give the green signal to whichever team won the battle.

So without further ado, let’s quickly recap what happened last week, shall we?

1. Pranathi – Tejas Vs Preethu – Anika

The theme for the battle between Pranathi-Tejas and Preethu-Anika was ‘western’. So they were free to choose any kind of western forms of dance. While Pranathi (Bramhagantu) and Tejas (Kamali) chose to dance on ‘Techno’ beats with UV light formations, Preethu (Paaru) and Anika (Kamali) danced on a mix of ‘Whacking’ and ‘Hip Hop’. In the end, thanks to the judges, the battle was won by Tejas and Pranathi.

2. Shiny and Hanumantha 

Since Hanumantha and Shiny, the two ex-participants from the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame chose to dance on a splendid local folk-themed dance, the judges decided to pay respect to the art form and not judge the two. However, praises flew across the auditorium as Vijay Raghavendra, Arjun Janya and Rakshitha Prem were equally floored watching this amazing folk performance.

3. Prekshith – Anwisha Vs Anoop – Dimpanna

The adorable tiny tot teams of the show, Prekshith-Anwisha and Anoop-Dimpanna, all from the Drama Juniors fame, were given the theme of ‘Props’. Their performance would be based on how well they used the props. While Prekshith-Anwisha’s choice of ‘property’ was a big table with wheels, their choice of song was ‘Jagave Ondu Ranaranga‘ from the film Ranaranga. On the other hand, Anoop-Dimpanna chose to dance with ‘circus’ props like Hoola-hoops and a huge skateboard. The battle resulted in the victory of team Prekshith-Anwisha.

4. Adithi from Gattimela

The theme given to Adithi was ‘Shining’. Adithi from Gattimela, who had to say bye to her co-team member Vicky as he backed out of the competition due to personal reasons, chose to use multi-coloured glitter to adhere to the theme of ‘Shining’. Since she performed solo, the judges decided to give her a ‘Fire-Brand-Performance’ for her exceptional dance followed by the golden hat.

5. Alaap and Jnana 

The special contestants of the show, Alaap from Drama Juniors and Jnana from Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 16, performed on the theme of a snake charmer and the snake. Two brownie points for you if you too guessed that little Jnana is the snake. Watch this performance again to see the world’s cutest snake ever.

6. Suraj and Minchu

With an impressive folksy theme, Suraj and Minchu, ex-contestants of Comedy Khiladigalu, performed fabulously on a song that resembles the ‘Koli’ dance of Maharashtra. What’s more? Suraj was dressed as a ‘Koli’ dancer too. The three judges couldn’t take their eyes off of this performance from the moment it started till the end. Cumulatively, this duo got the ‘Fire-Brand-Performance’ as well as the Golden hats.

7. Soorya – Hiranmayi Vs Ashok – Bhavani 

The theme given to the two teams was ‘Retro’. Soorya-Hiranmayi from the off-air Zee Kannada show Mahadevi gave a tribute to the legendary actor of Sandalwood ‘Shankar Nag’, Ashok and Bhavani from the off-air show Aathma Bandhana chose to do a retro theme of antyakshari in their performance. The results, however, favoured Ashok and Bhavani, who also received extra praise from the three judges.
