On Monday, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings played against each other in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Rajasthan beat Chennai with 7 wickets because of the outstanding batting of Jos Buttler. Take a look at how the teams played.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) gave a good performance in the first innings while bowling against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). When it was RR’s chance to bat, Jos played well and reached an unbeaten half-century in order to lead the team to victory.
The team led by Steve Smith had a very low target of 127 runs. They lost their openers Ben Stokes (19) and Robin Uthappa (4) and Sanju Samson the wicketkeeper-batsman (0) inside the Powerplay. While Ben Stokes was clean bowled by Deepak Chahar, Uthappa was caught behind the stumps by MS Dhoni in the fourth over. Later, Sanju Samson was taken by M.S.Dhoni at side leg.
Then Jos came in at no. 6. He managed to make 70 runs in just 48 balls and even played a crucial role in making 98 runs with Steve. This helped the team to reach the target in just 17.3 overs. Jos, who scored seven boundaries and two sixes, was declared as the ‘Man of the Match’ because of his impressive batting in the inning.
Chennai Super Kings’ innings
CSK failed to maintain a partnership throughout their inning and could only score 125 runs with 5 wickets which were easy enough for RR to beat within 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja scored the most runs in the team with 30 runs and Dhoni scored 28 runs. Jofra Archer, Kartik Tyagi, Shrayas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia took a wicket each.
As Rajasthan Royals won the match, they made it to the fifth spot in the IPL standings by winning 4 matches out of 10. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the table as they won only 3 matches.
