COVID-19 Vaccination Process Begins In The US; New York Health Worker Becomes First To Be Vaccinated
US and Canada started its COVID-19 vaccination process. Take a look at the first medical workers getting the vaccine.
All countries have been waiting desperately for the Coronavirus vaccine to arrive. The COVID-19 vaccination began on December 14 wherein a health worker from New York was given the first vaccine of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccination process begins in the US
On Monday, December 14, New York inoculated its first healthcare worker, a nurse, Sandra Lindsay with the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. She was given the first vaccine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, New York. The process was live-streamed receiving applause by a huge audience with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Sandra Lindsay said,”It didn’t feel any different from taking any other vaccine.” She added that she felt relieved and a bit more hopeful today. ” I hope this marks the beginning of the end of a very painful time in our history. I want to instil public confidence that the vaccine is safe, ” Lindsay shared. Before the news got out, former president of US, Donald Trump tweeted, “First Vaccine Administered. Congratulations USA! Congratulations WORLD!”
In Canada, the first vaccine was given to Anita Quidangen, a worker at a long-term home. After the vaccine was given to her, she was applauded and congratulated by medical workers. Several other medical workers were given the vaccine. She said that she felt good and thankful for receiving the first vaccine in Canada. She added that they have been waiting for this for a very long time now.
Trials of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine have shown that it is effective up to 95% and Americans are told that the vaccine is unsafe if they have allergy from any of the drug components of the vaccine. Russia had first given these vaccinations to the pilots and the army. Britain, Russia, Canada and the US have already begun the vaccination process while the other countries are eagerly waiting for it.
In India, in every session, 100-200 people will be given the vaccine. They will be under medical guidance for more than half an hour in order to make sure than if there is any reaction to it, it can immediately be treated. The first few vaccines will be given to Healthline workers and after that senior citizens will be catered. Vaccine booths will be set up in every city in India. Currently, 3 vaccines are being tested in India and soon India will also receive an approved vaccine.
