COVID-19 News: Meerut Man Dies Of Coronavirus, Hospital Charges Rs 4.5 Lakh Bill

 During the COVID-19 crisis many cases have been reported where hospitals try to exploit patients by heavily charging them. Recently, similar such incident was reported in Meerut. At Subharti hospital in Meerut, a man died of COVID-19 and his family members were handed a bill costing Rs 4.5 lakh. The family was already devastated after losing one of its member and the unimaginable bill amount added to their shock.

Family members alleged that hospital authorities refused to hand over the dead body until the paid the bill. Later, one of the BJP leaders intervened in this matter and made sure that the family gets the dead body for cremation procedures. Finally, after a lot of negotiation, the family got the body by paying rupees 80,000.

Such cases have been reported from several private hospitals. Many hospitals try to take undue advantage of the situation by charging heavy bills on the patients.
